In 25 years of offering property maintenance and improvements for residential and commercial customers, we’ve learned that quality, knowledge and reliability come from hiring the right people. We’re proud to say that Ruppert & Company has the most committed crew in the business. And it shows — our “newest” employee is a 7-year veteran! In fact, our combined years of service add up to 130 years of professionalism and expertise. That translates to consistency, professionalism, deep knowledge, and reliability each and every time.

Otto Ruppert, President and Owner: Otto emigrated from Germany with his family in 1948, settling in the Farmington Valley. He received a B.S. degree from the University of Hartford, majoring in accounting. Otto served proudly in the U.S. Army Reserve and began working for Rudder Building Services in 1961. There, he learned the many aspects of the trade and service industry and worked his way up from bookkeeper to an executive level position. In 1987 Otto acquired Rudder Building Services, renaming it “Ruppert and Company” where he continues to serve as President. Otto Ruppert prides himself on providing professional and dependable property management services and enjoys many long-standing customer relationships. His community involvement includes; Membership in Lions Club International for over 44 years, Treasurer of the Avon Congregational Church, Board member of the Friends of Heublein Tower, President of the East Avon Cemetery Association and the Evergreen Cemetery Association.

G. Lee Oswell, Vice President and Owner: Lee is a native of Somers, Connecticut. His career began with Rudder Building Services in 1974 as a factory cleaner. Lee quickly advanced, becoming Maintenance Manager, fully responsible for supply management, equipment maintenance and job supervision, as well as, snow removal management for many commercial accounts. Lee was one of the first in the industry to work with property managers to create snow removal management plans and budgets. In 1983, Lee was instrumental in launching the carpet cleaning division at Rudder; employing new eco-friendly technologies and equipment. By 1985, he had become manager of the window cleaning division, and continues to serve as window cleaning division leader at Ruppert & Company In 1987, Lee became partners with Otto Ruppert, providing overall support for day to day operations.

Barbara Ruppert, Office Administrator:  Barbara, a native of Avon, graduated from Bay Path College with an Associates in Science degree. She began working for Rudder Building Services in 1979 as a sales secretary where she gained experience in expanding business services into today’s Ruppert & Company. As Office Administrator, Barbara is the primary point of contact for customers. Barbara schedules all residential window cleaning, prepares contracts, and handles invoicing, correspondence and payroll responsibilities. Barbara is a long time member of the Avon Congregational Church where she serves as Deacon. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Friends of Heublein Tower, Secretary of the East Avon Cemetery Association and a member of Avon Historical Society and Evergreen Cemetery Association.  Barbara is proud to be a key contributor in the success of the family business.

Mark Ruppert, Landscape and Construction: Mark is a Connecticut son. He grew up on the family farm — mowing lawns as a teenager and spending endless nights plowing snow. Mark feels quite at home with hard work and the outdoors. Mark graduated from Bryant University in 1989 with a B.S. degree in Business, and began his career at Rudder Building Services, gaining experience in the building maintenance industry; and establishing Rudder’s landscape division in 1991. With over 20 years of experience in the Green Industry, Mark brings a wealth of knowledge in landscaping, business management and customer service. He has held various positions with regional and national companies, including: Branch Manager for The Brickman Group (a national provider of landscape services) and a Territory Sales Manager for a local John Deere dealer. He holds a Certified Landscape Technician award and is a member of PLANET. Mark’s business acumen, high degree of customer service and investment in modern day methods and technologies will serve him well as he leads the Ruppert & Company family legacy into the future.

John Gochee, Landscape and Construction: John has been trained in many facets of the home/property improvement industry. His education started at back in high school in wood working and shop class. In 1987, John worked part-time for his uncle’s construction company and realized, he wanted to make construction his career path.

John joined Ruppert & Company in 2004 as head of the Landscape Construction Division where his talents and skills have given the company the ability to offer customers a variety of deck and patio projects, retaining walls and other property improvements. John is a true a problem-solver who understands his customer’s needs. He takes pride in his work and makes sure every project is completed with his customer’s vision in mind.
